Harwinton has joined the Connecticut Clean Energy Communities Program. By doing so, the town has agreed to purchase 20% of its electricity usage from clean energy sources, rather than fossil fuels, in the grid. It has reached its goal by purchasing 20% of its total usage (within the municipal buildings) from Sterling Planet, a clean energy company that offers a mix of 5% Ct Small Hydro, 15% New England Small Hydro, 30% Northeast Wind, and 50% National Wind.

The BONUS for signing up: for every 100 Harwinton customers who sign up for clean energy options, our town will receive a FREE 1kW solar energy system from the Ct. Clean Energy Fund, to be installed on a municipal building
