Help Wanted –Per-Diem Blight Officer
Town of Harwinton is accepting applications for the position of a per diem Blight Officer. Qualifications include the ability to understand, interpret and explain to residents the Town’s Blight ordinances. Written communication and math skills. Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills. Ability to interact with angry residents and resolve conflict. Above-average computer skills mandatory; BS & A experience a plus. Must have and maintain a valid, non-restricted Connecticut Driver's License. Prefer candidates with prior law enforcement background AND previous blight enforcement experience. Ability to read, write and speak in English. Be able to prepare documents, letters, correspondence, records and reports using correct grammar. Ability to participate in discussion, meetings and give instructions that can be understood by those listening. LAND USE ENFORCEMENT OFFICER
Enforce and assist with the compliance of Zoning, Inland Wetlands and Watercourses, Planning and Zoning Board of Appeals regulations. The position is under the supervision and direction of the Board of Selectmen and the Land Use Commissions.
High School degree and three to four years related experience including at least one year of zoning enforcement or inland wetlands enforcement. College degree in related field may be substituted for two years of experience. CAZEO and DEEP Inland Wetlands Certification preferred.
This is a part-time position. Flexible hours based upon need and workload. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.

The Town of Harwinton is accepting employment applications for the position of a per-diem Water Pollution Control Authority Clerk
GENERAL DUTIES: Prepare mandatory meeting Agendas, transcribe Minutes for the Harwinton Water Pollution Control Authority, maintain regulations & files, attend meetings once a month, assume as point of contact person for communication purposes, and forward all reports to the appropriate departments.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to read and interpret Water Pollution Control Authority Regulations, a plus but not required. Ability to express decisions and reason through both verbal and written communication. Ability to communicate effectively with the public, various boards and commissions, other departments and staff. Attend WPCA evening meetings when required.
High school graduate. Valid driver's license. Experience and local a plus. Training available.
SALARY: hourly

Town of Harwinton is accepting applications for the position of a F/T Highway Supervisor. This is a non-union position with set and variable hours. Qualifications include a minimum of eight years employment in the field of highway engineering, construction or maintenance, of which three years must have been in a supervisory capacity OR IN LIEU THEREOF, college level training in Engineering may be substituted on the basis of one year of such training for one year of experience up to four years employment and four years maintenance of which three years must have been in a supervisory capacity OR IN LIEU THEREOF, an equivalent combination of experience and training, including the special experience required.
