*THE FOOD PANTRY SCHEDULE IS DISTRIBUTED TO ALL CURRENT CLIENTS. TO BECOME A CLIENT PLEASE SEE THE LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE FOR AN APPLICATION.
**SPECIFIC ITEMS THE FOOD PANTRY IS IN NEED OF AS OF JUNE, 2020**
*UPDATE:THANK YOU to ALL who have donated and continue to donate & inquire about the Food Pantry needs. We have had GREAT success with donors ordering from stores and having purchased items delivered directly to the Town Hall. We encourage this for those who have inquired about donating items during this time. Because of the unique circumstances, it is difficult to purchase in bulk during grocery store visits. We also want to keep our volunteers safe and not prolong their time in the stores as much as possible.
Below is a list of items that we are continually in need of. Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays are the best days to drop off items at the Food Pantry Entrance (Back of the building, Resident State Trooper door) between the hours of 8:30am - 4:00pm - ordered items can be delivered at any time. The door is being monitored for donations and then taken into the building for disinfecting before distribution.
For monetary donations please make all payments to the 'Town of Harwinton' with 'Food Pantry' written in the memo line. Payments can be mailed to: 'Food Pantry c/o First Selectman's Office' 100 Bentley Drive, Harwinton, CT 06791. Please contact us at [email protected] for further instruction if you wish to drop off a monetary donation. We are so thankful for ALL that the community has given!

Re: FOOD PANTRY & COVID19
In light of the COVID19 Virus, the goal of the Town is to keep all of our Clients safe and healthy. Social distancing is one of the most effective ways to keep the virus from rapidly spreading. The Town Hall is closed to the general public, this includes the Food Pantry as well.
For the weeks to follow, a Food Pantry Volunteer will be meeting you at your car with a bag or box of goods to supply your dietary needs occasionally accompanied with either a gift certificate from a local business or a store gift card. THE GIFT CARDS & GIFT CERTIFICATES ARE NOT FOR WEEKLY DISTRIBUTION; they are to serve as a supplement ONLY for the weeks we may be low on supplies. As supplies replenish expect a bag or box with items to serve your nutritional needs. Gift cards and restaurant gift certificates will NOT be a regular weekly item. Being that paper products & food supplies are scarce in the grocery stores it has been a challenge for us to stock our shelves. For now, we have limited supplies and very little variety; we will do our best to put together sufficient bags of food & supplies, and where we lack the gift certificate/gift card can make up the difference and only when necessary. Hopefully in the weeks to come the stores will be able to restock their shelves so we can restock ours. As that happens, we will have more to choose from and eventually allow for Clients to come into the Food Pantry themselves (TBD, no time frame has been determined). For right now we don’t know when that will be and will continue to take extra precautions disinfecting and handling all items and meeting you at the door, one at a time, for distribution.
To become a Food Pantry Client you MUST fill out all the appropriate paperwork AND be a Harwinton Resident. All inactive Clients will need to fill out new paperwork (link below for application) to continue to visit the Food Pantry; an inactive Client is someone who has not visited the pantry in the past 30 days.
Remember that we are all in this together and share the same feelings of uncertainty. In the meantime, we will do our best to keep providing you with the items we have available.
Thank you for your patience and understanding during this transition. Let us all continue to take every precaution to stay safe and healthy.
Michael R. Criss,
First Selectman, Town of Harwinton
