Animal Control

The Animal Control Department is responsible for enforcing the Connecticut State Laws pertaining to animals. The Animal Control Officer investigates complaints of vicious, sick, neglected or abused animals. Roaming or stray animals should be reported. The ACO is also responsible to care for all animals at the dog pound.

No one should have to choose between feeding themselves or their pets when faced with financial hardships. To help keep pets in their homes and out of shelters, the goal of the Harwinton Pet Pantry is to assist pet owners with food and other pet items. Everything in the pet pantry is free for the public and donation based. In-kind donations, such as dog food, and monetary donations to Harwinton Animal Control's Animal Welfare Fund, are always appreciated to continue helping the pet pantry assist our community. If you have any questions or feel that you need pet assistance beyond what the free pet pantry has to offer, please contact Harwinton Animal Control directly.
