The Town Historian is a volunteer postiion that is filled by a town resident who is passionate about local history and enjoys research & geneologies, specifically how they pertain to the Town of Harwinton. The Town Historian is an important volunteer position who works closely with other commuity organizations to discover and perserve the historical integrity of the town. 

There are two historical organizations in town - the Harwinton Historical Society and the T.A. Hungerford Memorial Museum. There is also a Facebook page called 'Harwinton in Time and Beyond'. This is a forum where anyone can post questions, photos, stories, etc. about Harwinton History. The Town Historian frequenrly visits it often.

The Harwinton Historical Society has programs througout the year as well as having a building at the Harwinton Fair. 

The T.A. Hungerford has a museum that is open to the public and can also be open by appointment .Dates that is will be open: Sundays, December 19th, 2021 & January 9th, 2022 from 12 noon - 3:00 pm.

The current Town Historian is Sue McClen who can be reached at susanmcclen@yahoo.com or at (860) 485-2692 for questions or anything Harwinton History! Sue is a genealogist and can offer assistance with genealogy in a group setting or one-on-one. As of January 2022 she will be working at the Harwinton Public Llibrary on a monthly basis on genealogy. Sue is also the secretary for T.A. Hungerford Memorial Museum.
